# Agent Plugins

> The recommended way to use Social Glass in Codex and Claude Code.

# Agent Plugins

The Social Glass plugin brings live culture and consumer insights into your agent. It installs:

* the Social Glass MCP connection
* native skills for creating signals and updating insights

This is the recommended setup for Codex and Claude Code.

## Codex

Follow this walkthrough to install the Social Glass plugin in Codex. This is the recommended setup method.

  Add the marketplace, then install the plugin:

  ```bash theme={null}
  codex plugin marketplace add Social-Glass-AI/social-glass-agent-plugins
  codex plugin add social-glass@social-glass
  ```

  To get a new release:

  ```bash theme={null}
  codex plugin marketplace upgrade social-glass
  ```

  Start a new Codex task after installing or updating.
</Accordion>

## Claude Code

```bash theme={null}
claude plugin marketplace add Social-Glass-AI/social-glass-agent-plugins
claude plugin install social-glass@social-glass
```

### Turn on automatic updates

Third-party marketplace updates are off by default. This setting belongs to the marketplace, not the installed plugin. Enable it once:

1. Run `/plugin`.
2. Open the **Marketplaces** tab at the top. Do not stay in **Installed**.
3. Select the **social-glass** marketplace.
4. Choose **Enable auto-update**.

If the option says **Disable auto-update**, automatic updates are already enabled. **Mark for update** on the installed plugin screen only queues a manual update; it does not enable automatic updates.

Claude Code will check for plugin releases at startup. If it installs one, run `/reload-plugins` when prompted.

You can also update manually:

```bash theme={null}
claude plugin marketplace update social-glass
claude plugin update social-glass@social-glass
```

## First use

Sign in with your Social Glass account when the MCP asks you to authenticate. Reads
and writes follow your account's role and organization access.

Codex is approved for new CIMD sign-ins. Previously registered clients can reconnect;
new connections from other clients, including Claude Code, need the Social Glass
team to confirm support and approve the registration first. Plugin installation
alone does not grant OAuth access. See [MCP client registration and troubleshooting](/reference/mcp-setup#other-mcp-clients).

If your agent does not support plugins, use the [direct MCP connection](/reference/mcp-setup). If the MCP is already configured, you can install [only the skills](/reference/skills).

Use one setup path per agent. Installing the plugin and also adding `social-glass` as a standalone MCP server can create a duplicate connection.
